Legends and Puppies Tour Returns
Submitted by admin on June 20, 2008 - 11:44. featureThey're back...
The one of a kind Legends and Puppies Tour of 2008, with former gubernatorial candidate, Kinky Friedman, and Texas Poet Laureate, Steven Fromholz, is back on the road once again to raise money for the Kinkster's favorite cause, the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch, a 501(c)3 organization that rescues abandoned and/or abused dogs, nurtures them and places them with loving families.
Kinky's brand new book, What Would Kinky Do? - How To Unscrew A Screwed Up World (St. Martin's Press) is about to hit bookshelves across America. Texas show-goers will have an exclusive opportunity to get an early copy-and get Kinky to sign it! A portion of the sale of each book will benefit Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch.
Kinky, Little Jewford and Washington Ratso to perform in Europe
Submitted by admin on May 13, 2008 - 13:29. featureKinky Friedman, with musical friends, Little Jewford and Washington Ratso, will be touring Europe in May and June, making stops in the Netherlands, England, Ireland and Scotland - and this is no ordinary musical tour; it's over the top entertainment! The shows will be cabaret-style, featuring lots of music by great musicians. In addition to hearing Kinky's classic songs, show goers will also have the chance to hear Kinky read selected passages from his written works, possibly his latest book, You Can Lead A Politician To Water But You Can't Make Him Think; Ten Commandments For Texas Politics-it chronicles his adventures along the campaign trail and shares uncensored thoughts on what's wrong with government and how it can be fixed. The performances will also include Kinky's cowboy style philosophy, stories from his run for governor of Texas, starting his own cigar company, and as always, the hilarious antics that the group is widely known for in Europe.
This trip marks the first time in ten years Friedman and friends have played the Netherlands and it's been five years since he and his group have played in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Due to touring expense and his hectic schedule in the US, it's not clear yet if Kinky will make it back across the ocean for another tour for some years to come.

Pen Warmed Up in Hell
Submitted by admin on October 8, 2007 - 14:44. featureRecently, Kinky was honored to have been invited as a featured speaker for the Pen Warmed up in Hell Lecture Series at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Connecticut. Speakers chosen for the lecture series are those who best represent the legacy of Mark Twain’s work as a social critic. Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) has always been one of Kinky’s heroes and after speaking to a sold out crowd, Friedman was permitted a late night tour of Twain’s home - a personal highlight of his visit. Mark Twain was quoted as saying the happiest and most productive years of his life were spent in his Hartford home. The two spirits communed as Kinky fondled Twain’s balls during a late night visit to the third floor billiard room.
